Barry Byles
I have recently joined the Heeley Art Club having, since 2004, retired from The South Yorkshire Police after 30 years service. This extra free time has enabled me to develop my painting; something that has always been an interest from an early age.
I prefer watercolours as a medium as I like its spontaneity and translucent qualities. However the ‘downside’ is not being able to correct mistakes easily and many efforts have been brought back ‘from the brink’!
I enjoy the challenge of painting just about any subject, but I particularly like the challenge that portrait painting presents in achieving a glimpse of the character of the person on paper. Since 1971 I have been a Christian and have found that painting gives me a natural outlet for expressing God’s world.
I regularly exhibit at exhibitions in the Sheffield area.
